Guide to 5 Days in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
As you are beginning to narrow down the possibilities and pinpoint your next travel destination on the world map, let´s help you out with a fantastic place to visit. It offers a range of great activities in the warm, tropical outdoors which sounds even more attractive as the fall air begins to bite. Yes, it´s Santa Teresa in beautiful Costa Rica. Here is a guide to 5 Days in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica to tempt you!
Pranamar Oceanfront Villas and Yoga Retreat will be your home base for your 5 days in Santa Teresa and it is spectacular. With its Bali-inspired architecture, the river-like pool that runs down the middle of the property, and sitting right on the beach, you may just want not to leave it at all!
So, where is Santa Teresa, Costa Rica exactly you may ask?
The beachside town of Santa Teresa is located on the southern corner of the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. This makes it an off-the-beaten-track destination adding to its appeal.
You will need to take a ferry ride across the Gulf of Nicoya from the port city of Puntarenas to get there which makes it even more fun. Or hop on a domestic plane and fly into the Tambor airport which is faster, and you will get to see the beautiful coastline from above. Pranamar can help you with the land transfers if necessary!
DAY 1: Arrival and adapting to the Santa Teresa vibe
Whether you come by road or by plane, the arrival day will be the perfect opportunity to settle into Pranamar Oceanfront Villas. Remember that it is right on the beach, so our recommendation is to wander down to the beach area around 4:30 pm and enjoy the amazing sunsets. The orchestra of colors will contrast the amazing cocktails at the Kavita Restaurant that will make those colors even more vibrant.
Enjoy your beautiful room and terrace to listen to the sounds of the waves or the music of the insects and animals of the lush, tropical gardens on the property.
DAY 2: Quintessentialities!
After a delicious breakfast and maybe an early swim at the beach, put on you some comfortable clothes and head to the Shala for the 10 am yoga class. You will love it!
As you will have noticed, the yoga Shala is the centerpiece of Pranamar and all paths will lead you there directly or indirectly.
Pranamar is also world-renowned for the yoga retreats that it hosts throughout the year with international yogis that share their knowledge on the practice of yoga, meditation, and the “subtle yet profound awakenings in our daily lives”.
After lunch, another swim at the beach or just relaxing under the palm trees taking in the beauty of Santa Teresa, let’s get ready for the quintessential Costa Rican adventure activity: ziplining!
Put your helmet on and harness yourself ready for a ride through the tropical dry rainforest canopy and get birds-eye views of the Pacific Ocean, the dramatic coastline, and the forest itself. This is a must-do adventure-filled activity that will always be a unique experience.
What a day of contrasts you will have!
DAY 3: Surf and Spa at Santa Teresa!
Today, we recommend a surf lesson, one of Santa Tere´s star attractions. With the long stretches of white-sand beaches and waves that work for the pros and the beginners, what ziplining is to Costa Rica, surfing is to Santa Teresa.
Pranamar is just a 5-minute walk from one of the best surf spots in the area so whether you would like a lesson to learn how to surf the waves or go solo to perfect your style, you decide! So, slap on some sunblock and grab a board as this is the perfect way to spend your day 3!
Today, you might want to wander into Santa Teresa to check out the shopping opportunities or have a bit to eat in one of the many restaurants, café, and eateries which are varied and offer real gastronomical experiences.
What you can´t miss in the afternoon is a spa treatment with sights and sounds of the beach and the palm trees as a backdrop. Whether you go for a massage or a focused treatment, it will soothe, refresh, and renew your body and soul.
Now, that is what a vacation should be about!
Yet again, a day of contrasts in the surf and in the spa at Santa Teresa!
DAY 4: Rockpools and poolside
Today is a perfect day for your yoga class at 10 am as your 5 days in paradise begins to wrap up unless you have already decided to extend your stay!
The Pranamar in-house yogis are Nancy Goodfellow and Amy Guthrie and they are the best of the best. Both have years of experience in not only practicing yoga but also in the art of teaching yoga.
If you are interested in a yoga retreat or doing a teaching training course, let Pranamar know and the experts will fill you in on upcoming retreats or click here.
For the afternoon, why not stay close to the property and swing between the refreshing pool and the rock pools just steps from the beach? You can also go for a walk along the beach and enjoy the sea breeze, the warm sun, and the beautiful landscape.
Don´t forget to pick up your now signature cocktail at the Kavita Restaurant and enjoy the amazing sunset too.
DAY 5: We will be back
Let´s just say that we will see you again soon rather than goodbye. Santa Teresa is one of those “I will definitely be coming back” places for so many reasons.
Pop in a quick last-minute swim or walk along the beach, do a yoga class, or just relax in your beautiful Bali-inspired room that has been your home for the past few days.
Safe travels whether you fly it or boat it back to San Jose or wherever your travels may take you. Pranamar looks forward to your next visit whether it be a relaxing beach vacation, a yoga retreat, or both! See you soon.
